Updates

And....she's back :) I've been bedridden, rainlocked, pimping my fisheye camera in bed, fueled on green tea and home cooked food. Somewhere along the way I ended up teaching myself to use my left hand almost satisfactorily. I must admit though, this guy's return made a lot of difference to my health and over all mojo. Hope he completes that blog of his.

I'm also trying to learn to drive a car, its always been an alien concept so far. Please refrain from gasping and/or giving me any disbelieving looks. Looks like a new era is dawning in my life. Which might mean its time to change my hair. I'm simple like that!

I came in contact with a bunch of Lomoheads and have started posting my own stuff on the Lomo site. I love how they let you do lomo walls. Pictures up soon :)

Because the journey was just as killer

Reached Hotel Destiny (notice uncanny name) in Thimpu.

Showered and dressed up all killer for the crazy New Years bash at Club Ace juat down the road.

Realised that that the Hotel Destiny staff had locked up and left!!

Figured there was no way we were staying stuck in that place to bring in the new decade.

Jumped out the side window of the first floor one after the other, it helped that Dawg is 6 feet tall

It also helped that not one of us was sober enough to think of the odds...

Went to the crazy new years party below :)

Okay lets see, New appartment, many many new paintings, Avoided committing hara-kiri (God bless me and him), Fifa World Cup in EU, Completed 6 issues of the pretty sexeh magazine, 3 most insane trips to Goa, A dream birthday party on a yacht, Kerala tripping, Some insane bike rides, and great new friends, Actually made it to Delhi and sat across @#$*& eating south-Indian food and din't die of shock at my own actions, Christmas in the galloping clouds and New Years in the Bhutan with the most awesome company. I couldn't really ask for more. Dear 2011, thank you for being so great.

I have been told time and again to write more here. I used to, sure. But off late working in a publishing related job, I spend a lot of time reading and writing. Someone said pictures tell a thousand words. Well apparently not. I will try to fix this wordlessness soon, hang in there :)

Things I learnt this year:

PMS can turn me into some sorta deranged monster who takes offense to nothing in particular * People who change their name are whack and uninspiring at the same time * Not colouring/perming/cutting/highlighting/in other words messing with my hair for more than a month makes me very very restless and is a feeling I must overcome by actually leaving my mane alone...(O_o) * Sometimes it takes a third try to make me actually start liking an author * I can cook * I love free tickets * My most permanent/rocksolid relationships are also the most dysfunctional ones * I will probably die in a bike accident and that doesn't make me dislike bikes one bit * Friends are family *

And now the resolution list (shudder)

Save up to go for dreamspeller (shhhhh) * If I buy something new, something old must be donated or thrown out. Do not accumulate * Grow my hair out. No snips all year long * Finish those countless number of design/art projects lying all around my house AND gift them to people * Work out * Meet the girlfriends I've been making all those plans with * Not stand anyone up this year (sorry sorry I really am) * Learn how to drive * Finish reading all those books as soon as possible and pass them on to deserving people * Find someone who can actually keep up with me dancing * Get a nose job (if all else fails ;))

You've been great! Lots of new art (see above), interesting people, soul searching and travel. In fact these last few weeks are looking like it will be one hell of a wild-ride into the next decade. The coming weekends have really upped the tempo - A wine tasting festival, A mega music fest, A bunch of weddings, A 3D party, DJ 1love, Xmas in Goa? New years in the Himalayas? phew...

Unless its through the lens, I never feel like I have truly seen a place. And I feel like I'm getting better, at looking! But there is so much more I need to experiment and learn. The next most amazing picture is just around the bend. On that note, the higher energies sorta conspired and I find myself in the possession of yet another new camera, to bring in 2011. Hello NIKON!

In the new year I look forward to: Buddhist Monasteries, Bubble machines, Graffiti, Painting a whole school (I kid you not!), making the Helhi connection again, New analog cameras, Auctioning/donating old things, Going sailing and whale spotting, more music, much more love!

Its time for this year, just like my last, to snatch up its stalkings off the floor, button up hurriedly at midnight and strut off, stilettos clicking, into the darkness. I'm making love to 2010 one last time...have a great new years you!

How does one start......bleargh! You should see what I do to you in my dreams..oh no! Scratch that.

I hate to break this to you love, but apparently you're not turned on by all those visual signals, you know like, the pretty mouth, by her messy curls or the kinky way his low-rise jeans hang about him. I.Mean.What!!??I.Mean.Really?!

Apparently its all in the smells and well, non-smells, its real chemistry trails. They weren't joking in those Archies comics, I'd hate to bore you with the details so link on... And how do we pick up these trails left (un)knowingly? Well your nose is one smooth operator and it doesn't (ohmygod) warn you before indulging in oxytocins also called the cuddle chemical, woot! In layman terms your nose is the responsible for all those heart feelings and intoxication with the opposite or hey, same sex. Apparently one can buy them here as well. Thats why my kittykat Monroe rubs herself against my calves, she's leaving bits of herself on me. Gives the phrase 'Owned' a whole new meaning eh? Its also why women hanging out together develop synchronous menstrual cycles.

I love the way you smell but a click would work just as well for me. Too geek, you think? My favourite compliment is - You have great taste in websites. I'm still blushing...urggh!

Coming to the posterboy of it all. Dionysus. Also popularly known as the God of Wine. The god who inspires ritual madness, joyful worship, and ecstasy, carnivals, celebration and a major figure of Greek mythology. I believe they both make one heady mix. Are you kidding me?! Coming up now - Mandala, The God of Pheromones!!

They make you do things that make you reboot your hearts OS and feel like you're hardwired to someone after just one evening and a crossfire of cute-isms - You should be a poster child for poster children... But you know I jest... the combination of the two is almost as good as this combo. It will make you feel the need to reformat your conscience, make sure you spray yourself in uglyspray or forget about wasting money on Original Conscience 2.0, the motherboard, I will have you know, will crash again. As soon as the one who's got you dopey eyed is within a radius of 4 feet, unless you're a Bee or something, then it can work just as well across about 300 KM. Spooked yet? Ha!

Friends & lucky-stars are pretty much the same thing

The limited-edition ones like Rolly-Tunes, who tries to ctrl-s a story he's been writing with a pen on paper, and old ones like Fish-eyes who takes gorgeous pictures of me, then there are strange ones like Ztsu-Nightsky, who laments on vividness and nature and purity of thought, and wiseman Hill who knows my patterns and helped me discover photography amongst other joys ;).

New ones like Food-ho', who make life a deliciously wild ride which I wish would never end. The wise old tree who makes me feel important by sometimes letting me give him advice and the frighteningly young one who has taught me patience. The musicianese speaking Harmony, the lens-flame Photographer who has no clue how good his work is and Bob - oh she's the reason why Scorpio women RULE! The drinking friends and talking friends and those who call me boyish names. The players and followers and those once-in-a-decade friends. Those who make sure I drink enough water and the ones who've cried with me for things we look back and laugh about now.

Fishy-eyes. Hell of a weird perspective on this new camera. And I've come to the conclusion that its good to use only in dimly lit clubs owing to the fixed unavoidable flash (O_o)

I've been meaning to write, but there's been a lot happening lately. Big thanks to all those who mailed me and showed support. I haven't replied to everyone as yet, but will do so soon. Bear with me.

There's a whole bunch of wonderful stuff thats happened.

Meeting old friends and new

Making plans and going on trips. Running around the narrow winding streets in the Portugese Quarter of Goa with a Holga Lomograph and my best friend in the picture above is happy stuff indeed.

It might sound weird but missing. craving. and wanting (was it abstinence or absence that's said to make the heart grow fonder? ha!)

Real friends who never judge you but proceed to act like its only been a few weekends since they saw you last (as opposed to a couple of years short of a decade) and proceed to bundle you up in love. Heart.

I met a whirlwind as well, sometimes being so brutally honest that it shocks people into silence is a good way to go. Sometimes its the worst thing to do. In any case, what goes around comes around. Amen.
Mostest favouritest people. Rocking my world since 1998. And both of them are based in Goa. How cool is that? I'm coming back soon to make some more crazy analog photos. Hopefully this time around my third most favourite person on the planet will join us as well. Happiness daze...

Battleground Beat

Bleeding and groaning, the Sharp made his way between the towering shelves and slowly staggered up to the pockmarked counter. The girl with Goth makeup looked at him questioningly from under her false-eyelashes. "How can I help you?" she said, chewing gum quite noisily.

"I'm from the Death Metal section," the Sharp said, indicating the pool of blood gathering at his feet. "There's been some kind of horrible confusion. I can't even bear to look at it. But I'm looking for my CD." His voice skipped indicating permanent damage.

With a sullen air, the girl helped the Sharp look for his Album, unenthusiastically gave him a hand climbing into the cover (which read something horrible), and then turned to deal with the massacre around her. CD covers lay mangled, their diskettes broken into millions of shiny shards. Records torn apart, their titles moaning from the ground like dying soldiers on a battlefield. A requiem was playing in the background. Bits of Cassette tape wrapped around everything. Things had definitely gone out of hand here.

She checked the date and noted the missing Album. ‘Gruesome Vol#1’. Cassettes. Always the Cassettes. Jealous idiots, going after the MP3 CDs at every opportunity. Arguing that they’d had too short an era. Insecure that they’d never hit a platinum with the masters on display in shiny new Blue Rays. Sigh...

She wasn't worried about the Vinyl maestros. They were under lock and key, surrounded by vintage posters and wrongly set calendars to keep their egos in check. She tied back her hair, plugged in her iPod and got out the bass-maker. This time, there would be no mercy. But there would be a lot of broken records.

The Ball Jointed Doll is a pop culture craze originally from Japan that has taken the whole world by storm. They are especially popular amongst budding fashion-photographers who can get them into lifelike poses and costumes thanks to their joints (Duh!). These dolls are made of Vinyl or Resin, though ceramic (see above set of pictures) is not unheard of. I came across these tattooed women on Enchanted Doll. Blew me away! I'd kill to own one of them...

The whole mass obsession about these eerily realistic dolls is a take-off from Cosplay, short for costume-playing which is type of performance art in which participants don costumes and accessories to represent a specific character or idea. Characters are often drawn from popular fiction in Japan, mostly Anime & Manga. I kinda like the Kill the Bride Costume on this site.

Ball-Jointed-Dolls can be bought online. My favourite sites are Soul-Doll, Dream of Doll, but you can also go through this list to find what hits your spot.

Its being able to change everything about the dolls, including the wigs, clothes, hands, feet, bust size — even their eyelashes. But this level of customization comes with a price. Needless to say they are very very expensive, for example a set of new eyes are anything between $30 to $300. Heres a database of them. Whoa!
